  • Indian Administrative Service (IAS)
  • Indian Forest Service (IFS)

Qualifications for becoming an IPS

Nationality

Age limit

General Category

The age limit for the general category is 30 years, and candidates of a general category can apply for the IPS examination only 4 times.

Other Backward Classes (OBC)

For the Other Backward Classes, the age limit for appearing in the IPS examination is 33 years, and the OBC candidate can participate in the IPS examination a total of 7 times.

Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC / ST)

The age limit for appearing in the IPS entrance examination for the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes is 35 years and the candidates of the Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes can appear in the IPS examination as many times as possible.

Physical Abilities

Height

If you appear in the IPS exam and pass the written examination, then you are selected on the basis of your physical ability. For IPS, the length of males is more than 165 centimeters and on the same side SC / ST males are 160 centimeters and the length of females should be 150 centimeters, sc-st length of females is 160 centimeters.

Chest

If you are appearing in the IPS exam, then the chest of a male candidate should be at least 84 centimeters and the chest of a female candidate should be 79 centimeters.

IPS Exam Phase

Primary Examination

This is the most preliminary exam of the IPS exam, it contains objective questions. The question papers in this examination and the marks of both the papers are fixed at 200.

Main Examination

If you pass the preliminary examination, then only you can participate in the main examination. In this exam, tough questions are asked compared to the preliminary examination, Total of 9 question papers are there in the main examination.

Interview

If you pass the preliminary exam and the main exam then you are called to the final stage which is the group discussion in the interview, or else the interviewer will test your thinking power and way of thinking.

The interview runs from around 40 to 45, if you pass the interview then you are called for IPS training, and after training, you are appointed to the post according to your qualifications.
